The normal method for character generation is to use the character generation tool built into the website. This tool randomly rolls two sets of characteristics and allows you to choose the set you want. The GM may allow you to roll two, or even three sets and then choose the character you want.
These rules use a character design paradigm where you decide exactly how to build your character.
Note that "stats" and "characteristics" are used interchangeably and mean the same thing.
Profession and Primary Characteristics
First choose your profession. If you wish to play a dual class character, choose both professions. The table below indicates your primary characteristics based on profession:
Profession | Primary Characteristics |
Assassin | DEX, INT |
Barbarian | STR, LUCK |
Beastmaster | WP |
Cleric | WP |
Fighter | STR, CON |
Mage | INT, MA |
Martial Artist | STR, DEX, CON, WP |
Mechanician | DEX, INT |
Paladin | STR, CON, WP, CHA |
Psionicist | INT, WP |
Ranger | STR, DEX |
Scout | DEX, PER |
Thief | DEX, CHA, PER |
Starting Characteristics
All characteristics start with a value of 15 except primary characteristics. The starting value of the primary characteristics depend on the number.
Number of Primary Characteristics | Starting Value |
1 | 22 |
2 | 20 |
3 | 19 |
4 | 18 |
5 | 17 |
6 | 16 |
7+ | 15 |
For example, a single class Cleric has only 1 primary characteristic - Willpower - so it has a starting value of 22. However, a dual-class fighter/mage has 4 primary characteristics so they all have a starting value of 18.
If PER or CHA are a primary characteristic, add 2 to the value. For example, a single class scout (DEX, PER) would start with a 20 DEX and 22 PER.
Choose Race
Choose your race and modify your characteristics accordingly.
Race | Characteristic
Modifiers |
Centaur | +3 STR, -2 DEX, +1 CON, -2 MA |
Drow Elf | +3 DEX, +1 INT, +2 MA, -1 STR, -2 CON, -2 LUCK |
Dwarf | +1 STR, -1 DEX, +1 CON, -1 MA |
Giff | +4 STR, -2 DEX, -1 INT, -1 MA |
Gnome | +1 INT, -1 WP, +1 LUCK |
Half Elf | +1 DEX |
Halfling | -2 STR, +1 DEX, +2 LUCK |
High Elf | -1 STR, +1 DEX, -1 CON, +1 MA |
Myyrrhn | +1 DEX, -3 CON |
Wood Elf | +1 DEX, -1 CON |
Buy Up Characteristics
Once starting characteristics are determined, you have (40?) points available to buy them up. The cost to buy up a characteristic is not linear. Consult the following table:
Increase from Starting | Cost For
Most Stats | Cost for
CHA & PER |
+1 | 1 | 1 |
+2 | 3 | 2 |
+3 | 6 | 3 |
+4 | 10 | 5 |
+5 | 15 | 7 |
+6 | 21 | 10 |
+7 | 28 | 14 |
For example, if you have a 20 STR and want to buy it up 5 points to 25, it will cost you 15 points.
Note also that you can buy stats down for the same cost. For example, if you have a starting PER of 15 and want to drop it to 10, you gain 7 points to spend on other stats.
Finishing Up
Once characteristics are finished, let the GM know. He will have to manually create the character on the website and assign starting EXP to buy skills. |
