Darkthorn

Darkthorn is the son of Delwin Potts, a merchant from the evil city of Highport. His father fits right in as an evil merchant of questionable ethics and morals. He has never been married but has had many paramours and a total of 13 children of which Darkthorn is the third youngest. Delwin spends very little time with his children who are generally raised by slaves. Darkthorn is not the first one who disappeared and he doubts that his father even knows or cares what happened to him.

Darkthorn spent very little time with most of his siblings but was close to a couple, an older sister name Wendy and a younger brother named Markus. He has seen or heard from either since he was captured by a press gang in Highport.

Darkthorn loves the forest and spent much of his time there. The forest was a very dangerous place that was mostly inhabited by orcs and their kind but Darkthorn considered it a game to be able to move through the forest unseen or unheard by the orcs. Being from Highport, he interacted with orcs often and though he would be so naive as to say he had friends among them, he did know some of them and had conversations with them often.

Dyson Teague

Dyson’s earliest memory is coming to his senses while wandering the marketplace, hungry and thirsty with a nasty head wound and no idea who he was or how he got there. His foreign accent clearly marked him as “not from around here”. At first, a few people were sympathetic and helpful, but when no one appeared to name him or was searching for him, he became just another troubled vagabond youth running around the city with nothing but time on his hands. Highport is a rough city and not kind to those with no means of support. As a “foreigner” no one would take him in as an apprentice so strong arm robbery was Dyson’s only real alternative to begging or slavery. Over time and after several brushes with the Guard, he fell in with a Master of the local Thieves’ guild named Badger. Dyson’s strength and agility helped him fit into the enforcer role and he began learning basic thieves’ skills as well as getting both more training and experience as a fighter.

A few years later, Dyson was near the docks scouting out a new ‘protection’ victim when he fell prey to a press gang. Life aboard ship was rough, but not much rougher than where Dyson had come from. He learned quickly and became part of the ship’s fighting force, manning the ballistae when needed. Dyson has worked to earn the trust of his superiors as he felt that was the only way he would eventually be able to get an opportunity to get off the ship.

Kalin

Kalin was born and raised in Leukish, the capital of the Duchy of Urnst. His father was talented with languages and worked as a translator for the court of Urnst and traveling merchants. This gift was passed on to young Kalin. Once he hit his teen years, he was allowed to travel alongside his father for several years as their caravans crossed much of Flanaess, primarily Western Nyr Dyv, Sheldomar Valley and Old Aerdy West.

Kalin took well to the social interaction across multiple languages but became disillusioned with the lack of moral integrity that many of the merchants and nobles displayed. Upon an extended break during the winter of this 19th year, Kalin chose to join the religious order of Pelor and no longer pursued the work of his father. Kalin was wiser and more knowledgeable for all his travels, which would serve him well as a cleric of Pelor.

After finishing his religious training, Kalin embarked on a mission, spreading the light of good into the darker parts of Flanaess. It was inevitable that his path would lead to trouble. Almost a year into his journeys, he was pressed into service while aiding the poor along the Wild Coast in Safeton.

Lorcan

I mentioned on Maptool last night that Lorcan is from the city of Hardby, which is near the Wild Coast on the north end of Woolly Bay. It is part of the Domain of Greyhawk The monster infested Abbor-Alz mountains are nearby on the east side and the Bright Desert to the southeast. It's a major trading port, taking cargo from seagoing vessels to be shipped up to Greyhawk, usually by land since the nearby river is narrow and difficult to navigate with cargo.

Rory Rockhound

Rory grew up in a poor family of shepherds in the Cairn Hills. It was clear that Rory was too intelligent to carry on the family business as his 3 older brothers would do. Instead, his family sent him off to apprentice with an eccentric herbalist and mage, Joest Rollietoe. Rory accompanied Joest over the next three years while they traveled throughout the Domain of Greyhawk from the Cairn Hills to the Plain of Greyhawk, spending most of their time in Greyhawk City.

As Rory became more comfortable with his duties, it was on a trip to Hardby that his luck ran out. After delivering some potions and herbal remedies to a merchant in Trade Town, the foolish Rory stayed out too late enjoying the local ales when he ran into the press gang in the Dock District.
