Grilled Ettercap Glands
Food & Drink, Uncommon – 30 SP per serving
The use of monster flesh in cooking may be looked upon with disgust and doubt among the uninitiated, but experts know that a wondrous meal often requires magical ingredients only found in… well, magical beings – monsters, that’s to say.
This said, grilled Ettercap glands taste distinctly bitter and ever so slightly acidic and savory. It’s… an acquired taste, even if you can get over it being monster flesh.
Ingredients: A properly skinned Ettercap yields two glands (Skill: Hunting, Task: Butcher Animal), which is enough for two servings of this… particular dish. Few are willing to eat a second portion after finishing the first, small as a serving may be. Ettercap glands are hard to obtain, but markets that have them price them at an average of 8 SP per unit.
Effects: Eating a Grilled Ettercap Gland takes one action, but the unexperienced might find it hard to gulp down. Upon consuming it, a creature must roll a Normal saving throw or regurgitate the gland, along anything else in their stomach, in their next round, over the course of which they are incapacitated. The Normal save is made at +10 for each time the creature successfully eats (and keeps down) a Grilled Ettercap Gland. When the Normal Save equals or exceeds 100, no further rolls are required and, you start to… like it? Let’s hope it doesn’t become a thing… You gain the effects of the Spider Climb spell (Transformation Mage) for 10 minutes after successfully consuming a serving. Additionally, you have advantage on skill checks if the animal you’re attempting to handle is an arachnid.
Preparation Requirements: It takes 15 minutes to prepare the dish once the fire is started and has grown hot (so about 30 minutes total). You need 2 ettercap glands per 3 people.
