*********About the cover model: Kelly Tilghman************

Kelly Tilghman is a former American television golf announcer and a professional golfer. She was born on August 6, 1969, in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Tilghman is well known for her work with The Golf Channel, where she made history by becoming the first full-time female lead golf announcer on the PGA Tour.

Tilghman grew up in a golfing environment; her family owned and operated a golf course in North Myrtle Beach, which sparked her interest in the sport from a young age. She pursued her passion for golf into her college years, playing for the Duke University women's golf team. During her time at Duke, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. After college, Tilghman played professional golf for a few years, competing in Australia, Europe, and Asia, but she didn't achieve notable success on the professional tour.

Transitioning from playing to broadcasting, Kelly Tilghman's career took off when she joined The Golf Channel in 1995, shortly after the channel's inception. Her deep knowledge of the game, combined with her articulate and engaging presentation style, quickly made her a favorite among viewers. Tilghman's role at The Golf Channel evolved over the years, including various duties such as hosting studio shows, serving as a lead play-by-play announcer, and participating in live tournament coverage.

One of her career highlights was in 2007 when she became part of the broadcasting team for the PGA Tour's new television deal, marking her as the first woman to be given such a prominent role in golf broadcasting. Despite her success, Tilghman's career was not without controversy. In 2008, she faced criticism and was suspended for two weeks by The Golf Channel for a comment made about Tiger Woods that was considered inappropriate.

Kelly Tilghman has also been involved in various charitable activities, particularly focusing on education and junior golf. She has maintained a low public profile since stepping away from broadcasting, choosing to focus on her personal life and other interests. Despite her reduced visibility in the golf world, Tilghman's pioneering role as a female broadcaster in golf remains significant, and she is respected for her contributions to the sport and its coverage.
