Lauren Lovette is an acclaimed American ballet dancer and choreographer, renowned for her work with the New York City Ballet (NYCB) and the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Born on November 10, 1991, in Thousand Oaks, California, Lovette began her ballet training at the age of 11 at the Cary Ballet Conservatory in North Carolina. She furthered her education at the School of American Ballet in New York City.

Lovette joined the NYCB as an apprentice in 2009, becoming a member of the corps de ballet in 2010. She quickly rose through the ranks, being promoted to soloist in 2013 and to principal dancer in 2015. During her time with NYCB, she performed an extensive repertoire, including works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Justin Peck. Her notable performances included roles in "The Nutcracker," "Sleeping Beauty," and "Swan Lake"【94†source】【96†source】.

In addition to her dancing career, Lovette emerged as a significant choreographer. Her first major work, "For Clara," premiered at NYCB's Fall Fashion Gala in 2016. She continued to create pieces for NYCB, such as "Not Our Fate" (2017) and "The Shaded Line" (2019). Her choreography has also been featured at the Vail Dance Festival and the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company【94†source】【95†source】.

Lovette retired from NYCB in October 2021 to focus on choreography and other creative projects. She was appointed the first resident choreographer at the Paul Taylor Dance Company in 2022. Her work in this role involves creating new pieces and collaborating with dancers trained in modern dance, significantly different from her classical ballet background【94†source】【96†source】.
