Desiree Ficker, born on December 9, 1976, is an American long-distance runner and former professional triathlete. Raised in Potomac, Maryland, she started her athletic journey at a young age, inspired by her parents' interest in track and field. Ficker pursued running throughout high school and college at the University of Alabama, graduating in 1998. Her interest in triathlons began after watching the Ironman Kailua-Kona in Hawaii, leading her to buy her first triathlon bike in 1999.
Ficker's athletic achievements are notable, especially in the triathlon circuit. She placed second overall at the 2006 Ironman World Championship in Kona, a significant accomplishment in her career. Ficker also had a successful running career, setting personal bests in half marathons and marathons, including a remarkable 2:39:30 finish at the 2009 New York City Marathon.
She currently resides in Austin, Texas and has diversified interests outside of athletics, including snowboarding, vintage clothing, and photography. Ficker married Matt Berry in November 2012 and has since focused more on her running career, winning several notable races and setting impressive personal records​
