About the cover model:
Lauren Collins is a notable athlete who has achieved significant recognition in track and field. She is particularly known for her achievements in high jump and heptathlon. Collins was a record-holder at the University of California, Irvine, where she set impressive records in both these disciplines.
Her journey in sports began with aspirations of becoming an Olympic gymnast, but due to a growth spurt in high school, where she grew six inches in her freshman year and ultimately reached six feet, she shifted her focus to track and field. This transition proved to be a successful move as she excelled in high jump, eventually becoming UC Irvine's best-ever women's track & field athlete.
Collins' training was intense and diverse, including intervals, hills, plyometrics, tempo runs, core work, and weight lifting. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she won the Big West Conference high-jump title and set a UCI record in the heptathlon. She was also recognized for her academic achievements, maintaining a high GPA and being named a UCI Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Despite facing challenges like a stress fracture, Collins remained active in sports and fitness, even venturing into sports modeling. She also contributed to the community as a track director at Olympic Academy, a nonprofit sports camp in Orange County.
Looking forward, Collins expressed a desire to continue her athletic career post-graduation, with aspirations to participate in Olympic-level competitions. Her dedication to both her sport and academics showcases her as a well-rounded individual and an inspiration to aspiring athletes
