Connie Britton is an American actress, singer, and producer known for her versatile roles in television and film. She was born Constance Elaine Womack on March 6, 1967, in Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, and later attended Dartmouth College, where she majored in Asian studies with a concentration in Chinese. After graduating, Britton studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City.

Britton's acting career began with theater and small film roles, but she gained wider recognition for her role as Nikki Faber on the ABC sitcom "Spin City," where she starred from 1996 to 2000. However, it was her role as Tami Taylor on the critically acclaimed NBC series "Friday Night Lights" (2006-2011) that brought her significant acclaim. Her portrayal of the supportive yet strong high school guidance counselor and wife of a football coach earned her two Emmy nominations and made her a beloved figure among fans.

Following "Friday Night Lights," Britton starred in the first season of the FX horror anthology series "American Horror Story" (2011), playing Vivien Harmon. Her performance in the show further showcased her range and versatility as an actress.

In 2012, Britton took on another iconic role as Rayna Jaymes, a country music superstar, on the ABC/CMT series "Nashville."
