Ceca Zivojinovic, widely known by her stage name Ceca, is a prominent figure in the Balkan music scene, particularly in the genre of turbo-folk music. Born as Svetlana Veličković on June 14, 1973, in Žitorađa, Serbia, she gained fame as a singer in the former Yugoslavia.
Ceca began her music career at a young age. She released her first album at just 15 years old in 1988, titled "Cvetak zanovetak". This debut marked the beginning of a highly successful and influential career. Her music, characterized by a blend of traditional Serbian folk music with contemporary pop, quickly resonated with a wide audience.
Over the years, Ceca has released numerous albums and hit songs, becoming one of the most popular and influential artists in Serbia and the wider Balkan region. Her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence have earned her a large and dedicated fan base.
Apart from her music career, Ceca has been involved in various controversies and legal issues. She was married to Željko Ražnatović, known as Arkan, a Serbian paramilitary leader and warlord. Arkan was assassinated in 2000, and following his death, Ceca took over the management of his football club, FK Obilić.
In 2011, Ceca was convicted of embezzlement and illegal possession of firearms and was sentenced to house arrest. This period of her life was highly publicized and added to her controversial public image.
