Eric Church, born Kenneth Eric Church on May 3, 1977, in Granite Falls, North Carolina, is an American country music singer-songwriter known for his distinctive voice, outlaw image, and blend of rock and country music. Church's musical career began in earnest in the early 2000s after graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in marketing.
He signed with Capitol Nashville in 2005, and his debut album, *Sinners Like Me*, was released in 2006. The album included successful singles such as "How 'Bout You" and "Guys Like Me," establishing him as a rising star in country music. His follow-up album, *Carolina* (2009), further solidified his presence with hits like "Love Your Love the Most" and "Smoke a Little Smoke."
Church's breakthrough came with his third album, *Chief* (2011), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album produced hit singles like "Drink in My Hand," "Springsteen," and "Creepin'." *Chief* earned Church his first CMA Award for Album of the Year.
Known for his electrifying live performances, Church released a live album, *Caught in the Act*, in 2013. His subsequent albums, including *The Outsiders* (2014) and *Mr. Misunderstood* (2015), continued to receive critical acclaim and commercial success. *Mr. Misunderstood* won the CMA Award for Album of the Year in 2016.
In 2018, Church released *Desperate Man*, another successful project that showcased his evolving sound. Throughout his career, Eric Church has been known for his rebellious attitude, dedication to his craft, and his ability to push the boundaries of country music while staying true to its roots.
