David Grohl, born January 14, 1969, in Warren, Ohio, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the founder, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Foo Fighters, which he formed in 1994. Before Foo Fighters, Grohl was the drummer for the influential grunge band Nirvana from 1990 until the death of its frontman, Kurt Cobain, in 1994.

Grohl's musical career began in the 1980s, playing in several local bands before joining the punk rock band Scream at the age of 17. His time with Scream helped him develop his drumming skills and gain significant live performance experience. After Scream disbanded, Grohl joined Nirvana, contributing to their landmark album "Nevermind" (1991), which brought the band international fame.

After Nirvana, Grohl recorded a collection of songs that became the first Foo Fighters album, playing almost all the instruments himself. The band quickly rose to fame and has since released multiple successful albums, earning numerous awards and accolades.

In addition to his work with Foo Fighters, Grohl has been involved in various musical projects and collaborations. He directed and produced the documentary "Sound City" (2013) and the HBO series "Sonic Highways" (2014), exploring the music scene in different American cities.

David Grohl is known for his energetic performances, distinctive voice, and versatile musicianship. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern rock music.
