Patricia Manterola, often known as "Patty Manterola," is a multifaceted Mexican artist with accomplishments in singing, acting, and television hosting. Born Bertha Patricia Manterola Carrión on April 23, 1972, in Mexico City, she has established herself as one of the most recognized names among Latinos in the US and globally.
Manterola's musical career took off in the second half of 1994 with her debut solo album, "Hambre de amor," featuring hits like "Quiero" and "Lo juro." Her success continued with her starring role in the telenovela "Acapulco, cuerpo y alma" in 1995, which was broadcasted in 63 countries and earned her the title of revelation actress of the year. Her second studio album, "Niña bonita," released after the telenovela's success, included popular singles like "Hablando con las estrellas" and "Por influjo lunar."
In 1998, she returned to television with "Gente bien" and released her third studio album, "Quiero más." Following this, she moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue English studies and explore opportunities in the film industry. Her notable works during this period include appearances in "Ángeles," a Latin version of "Charlie's Angels," and roles in American films like "The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood" and "Carman: The Champion."
Manterola's 2002 album "Que el ritmo no pare" saw significant success in Latin America and Europe, especially in Spain. The title track became immensely popular, serving as the official theme for the 2002 Vuelta a España and the 2002 FIFA World Cup broadcast in Latin America. Her track "The Rhythm" was also the official theme for the Formula One European Grand Prix.
Apart from her professional achievements, Manterola is known for her philanthropic efforts, including her work with PETA and participation in charity projects like "El último adiós" for the victims of the September 11 attacks.
